Rubber Stamping onto a Non-porous Surface

Step 1

You will need a clear rubber stamp, StazOn® Ink, an acrylic block, and a metal or non-porous surface. We have chosen to stamp onto a 29.5mm Antique Sterling Silver Plated Pewter Circle Raised Tag Bezel Pendant by Nunn Design. The Nunn Design Sealant is optional.

Step 2

Carefully place the clear rubber stamp on the acrylic block flat side down. Use the grid to line up the stamp.

Step 3

Choose the placement of the stamped image by holding the un-inked stamp above the raised tag pendant. Use the grid to line up the stamp.

Step 4

Ink the stamp by tapping the ink pad repeatedly onto the stamp from above.

Step 5

Stamp the item with the clear rubber stamp. Because it is a non-porous surface do not press the stamp down hard rather rock the stamp slightly back and forth to get a good impression.

Step 6

Carefully lift the rubber stamp off the item. Let the ink dry for at least 5 minutes. Now that your pendant is dry you have a variety of options for finishing it. Read below for instructions on how to finish your piece.

Finishing - Option 1

Black StazOn® Ink is a permanent ink and can be used alone on metal to create a stamped image. There is no further finishing required.

Finishing - Option 2: Step 1

For a slightly more permanent and glossy finish apply Nunn Design Sealant to the surface of the item. Let the sealant dry for 20 minutes.

Finishing - Option 2: Step 2

The sealed image will have a slightly shiny surface. You can leave the pendant at this stage or you can continue onto Option 3.

Finishing - Option 3: Step 1

You can add ICE Resin to the surface of the raised tag pendant for a high gloss finish with greater durability. Slowly pour a small amount of ICE Resin over the surface of the pendant. Refer to the Making a Domed Surface with ICE Resin technique for further instructions.

Finishing - Option 3: Step 2

Congratulations! You have created a unique stamped image on a raised tag pendant using ICE Resin for a high gloss permanent finish. You can leave the pendant at this stage or you can continue onto Option 4.

Finishing - Option 4: Step 1

You can add additional stamped layers to your pendant for a unique layered effect. To stamp another layer onto the cured ICE Resin pendant repeat Steps 2 through 6 of this technique.Tip: Choose the opaque ink for colors that will pop.

Finishing - Option 4: Step 2

Once the ink has dried add a layer of Nunn Design Sealant to the stamped area. Let the sealant dry for 20 minutes.

Finishing - Option 4: Step 3

Slowly pour a small amount of ICE Resin over the surface of the pendant. Refer to the Making a Domed Surface with ICE Resin technique for further instructions.

Finishing - Option 4: Step 4

Congratulations! You have created a pendant with multiple stamped layers and a high gloss permanent finish.
