How To Tie A Dragon Fly Hair Barrette

This is a series of loose and tight cobra knots. I did not include the tutorial for the cobra. You can either look that up or try and figure it out from the pics here.

Step 1:

Step 1. Find the length of the dragonfly (your preference) and then multiply that length by 10. Cut that much paracord off. Slide the beads down to form this shape. The beads should be set at the length you want the finished dragonfly to be.

Step 2: using the 2 cords, tie a cobra knot

Step 4. Insert one side into the cobra you just tied. This is the most difficult part. Not the insertion part so much, but just keeping it held in there until you tie the next knot. Work this part carefully and don't get discouraged if the barrette keeps slipping out when you pull the knot tight.

Step 5A: Tie another cobra knot to secure the barrette

Step 5B: Just another angle of cobra knot tightened down on the barrette.

Step 8:

Step 6A: tie a cobra not, but leave it loose. This will be your top wings.

Step 9:

Step 6B: Make sure cord goes under the little metal piece

Step 10:

Step 7. Tie another cobra and pull this one tight.

Step 8: Slide the knot up and Repeat step 6

Step 12:

Step 9. Repeat step 7

Step 13:

Step 10: continue tying cobra knots all the way down until you reach the desired length.

Step 11: Leave a little loop at the end for the tail. Make the final cobra knot. Cut and singe (pic 1). Put metal piece of barrette back together on the bottom (pic 2). Barrette is complete.
