Step 1
Set the blank or item you want to dap into the depression in the dapping block that best matches the size of the blank. It should rest down inside of the depression.
Step 2
Next pick a dapping punch that is a little smaller than the blank.
Step 3
Use a 1lb brass or household hammer and gently tap the punch.
Step 4
Continue tapping the punch several times, rotating the punch from left to right and front to back to get an even dap.
Step 5
The blank should be completely formed to the depression in the dapping block.
Step 6
Your blank is now dapped with a convex side and a concaved side. Use a Pro Polish pad to polish the blank.
Step 7
If you want to make the dapped blank more concaved, move it to the next smaller depression in the dapping block.
Step 8
Repeat steps 3 through 6 with a smaller punch.
